Debbie Goldman has been a supporter of JUFJ since its founding in 1998. Debbie previously served as Vice-Chair of the Board of Avodah, the Jewish Service Corps. For her service to Avodah, she received a Partners in Justice award in 2017. Debbie is a member of the Fabrangen Havurah and the Fabrangen Tzedakah Collective in Washington, DC and serves as Treasurer of both organizations.
Debbie is the retired Research Director of the Communications Workers of America where she worked for 28 years supporting the union’s collective bargaining, organizing, legislative, and policy agenda. She advocated before the Federal Communications Commission, Congress, the Department of Justice, and state regulatory commissions in support of the union’s telecommunications policy.
Debbie earned her BA in History at Radcliffe (Harvard), MA in Education (Stanford) and PhD in US Labor History (University of Maryland). Debbie raised two sons in Washington, DC and has five grandchildren.
