Desmond Serrette is the Strategic Campaigns Director at SEIU.
He has worked in the labor movement fighting on behalf of working people for almost his entire career, except for two years as a Community Outreach Representative for Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards (MD-04). Prior to working at SEIU, Desmond was the Deputy Political Director at Unite Here Local 25. He was the Campaign Director for the Statehood ballot initiative campaign, which successfully passed the Statehood referendum with 86% of the vote in 2016.
Desmond grew up in Prince George’s County and holds a BA in African American Studies from Wesleyan University and a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He lives in Columbia Heights, Washington, DC.
