Yesterday Chairman Mendelson moved to repeal a modest tax increase and instead cut funds to vital social services in the middle of a global pandemic and economic crisis. Our partners, including the organizers who were planning to present on tonight’s call, are calling for an action tonight in response to this shocking, undemocratic attempt to strip aid from DC families and excluded workers.
We are therefore postponing our Just Recovery DC campaign call.
Please email Zach Weinstein at zach@jufj.org for more information.

Join us to recap what happened with DC's budget, and to hear from organizers leading campaigns to support excluded workers, challenge police misconduct, and defund MPD. Together we'll learn about what's next in the fight to build a more just and equitable DC. We'll also review our Just Recovery campaign so far, discuss next steps, and take action.
This year, JUFJ has deepened our work to support Black and Brown-led community partners' calls to defund police in our region. This work is essential in the local struggle for racial justice, but in addition to concrete action, it also requires us to look inside our organization and ourselves to ask some deep questions. What roles do we have as individuals, and as part of predominantly, but not exclusively white Jewish organizations like JUFJ in being complicit with and/or resisting police power and presence? How do whiteness and Jewishness impact these relationships to policing?
