It is essential that DC Council Chair Phil Mendelson hear from you about making sure that DC's budget is focused on racial justice and equity.
DC Council's Committee of the Whole is holding public hearings on Wednesday June 17th from 12-6PM and Thursday June 18th from 9am-6PM. We need you to tweet and post on social media to respond to the live hearings and share our #JustRecoveryDC budget priorities: putting people first, committing to democracy, meeting human needs, demanding racial justice, and choosing to raise revenue!

It is essential that Council Chair Phil Mendelson hear from you before the Council budget vote to make sure that DC's budget is focused on racial justice and equity.
Yesterday Chairman Mendelson moved to repeal a modest tax increase and instead cut funds to vital social services in the middle of a global pandemic and economic crisis. Our partners, including the organizers who were planning to present on tonight’s call, are calling for an action tonight in response to this shocking, undemocratic attempt to strip aid from DC families and excluded workers.
We are therefore postponing our Just Recovery DC campaign call.
Please email Zach Weinstein at zach@jufj.org for more information.
Make sure to check out our online action alert and guide for how to call and tweet at Council to make your voice heard. The links can be “Updates & Actions” on https://jufj.org/our-work/issue-campaigns/just-recovery-dc/

Join the hearing to hear from a range of DC residents who have been impacted by the pandemic as they tell our city's leaders why we need to raise revenue for a just recovery!
