VIRGINIA

More than 25 years ago, Jews United for Justice was founded with a vision of bringing together Jews and allies from across our region in solidarity with our neighbors working for social, racial, and economic justice. Today, I am excited to share with you the next step in our growth:

JUFJ has begun to build our local Jewish organizing work in Northern Virginia — and we need your help.

Virginia is not totally new territory for us. One of the first campaigns that JUFJ worked on was standing with Northern Virginia hotel workers who were fighting for a better contract. We held our 2006 Labor Seder at Temple Rodef Shalom in Falls Church to support that campaign. In 2019, we supported La ColectiVA in their campaign to demand that Amazon stop enabling ICE deportations.

We have never had a dedicated Virginia organizer who could help coordinate and support building the power of the Virginia Jewish community to work toward justice at the local level. Until now.

I am JUFJ’s first ever Virginia Lead Organizer. This year, alongside our Executive Director Jacob Feinspan and our Rabbi in Residence Miriam Liebman, I have already had dozens of conversations with community leaders, Jewish clergy, and potential campaign partners and funders. We all agree that this is a critical moment for the Jewish community in Virginia to make our collective voice heard, and we need your voice to be a part of that collective.

JUFJ held our first Virginia community meeting in May. If you couldn’t make it to the meeting, I would love to hear from you now about what you want JUFJ in Virginia to look like. You can use the buttons below to sign up for our Virginia emails, RSVP to an event, or request a one on one meeting with me.

I can’t wait to work with you.
