Speak Truth to Power in DC

DC

One of the most effective ways to speak truth to power is to testify before the DC Council. Hearing the stories and personal narratives of constituents helps move elected officials to take action on the issues that really matter. Join us for a workshop on how to create meaningful written testimony based on your personal story and values. We’ll practice connecting your story to specific issues that are before the Council, and how to make policy change through righteous storytelling.

Roots in Ruth: What Shavuot can teach us about sustaining our communities

DC
Tifereth Israel Congregation
7701 16th St NW, Washington, DC

When times are hard, it is especially critical that community members who have resources share those resources with folks in the community who don't. This is one of the lessons of the Book of Ruth, which many Jews read on Shavuot. Join JUFJ's session at the Community Tikkun Leil Shavuos and Shavuot Services at Tifereth Israel with Minyan Segulah, New Synagogue Project, Ohev Sholom Congregation, Shirat HaNefesh, Tifereth Israel, and Fabrangen as we dig into what we can glean from the Book of Ruth about economic justice, solidarity, and how we can support each other when the federal government is being used to try to tear our communities apart.
