Labor on the Bimah 2021

Maryland State

Since 1998, JUFJ has worked to put “labor” back into Labor Day by engaging our local Jewish communities in a collective conversation about our texts, our historical experiences, and the challenges facing workers today. We are providing congregations with a resource packet, working with congregations to arrange speakers, and planning follow-up events to help members of participating congregations learn more about some of the injustices facing Maryland workers today.

Join the Time to Care Coalition as we kick-off our campaign to get paid family and medical leave (PFML) passed in the 2022 Maryland legislative session! The event will feature the Time to Care Act bill sponsors, Senator Antonio Hayes and Delegate Kris Valderrama, as well as other leaders in the fight for PFML. We'll also share ongoing campaign activities and opportunities for people to get involved. This is the year for the Maryland legislature to pass the Time to Care Act and ensure that Marylanders don't have to choose between their jobs and caring for themselves or their loved ones.
