Please join JUFJ, Racial Justice NOW! and Young People for Progress on Thursday, November 30 at 1:00 PM when the Montgomery County Council's Education and Culture Committee meets to discuss Montgomery County's Restorative Justice program.

All of us deserve a life with dignity, respect, and safety. But here in Montgomery County, Black and brown children in public schools are scapegoated as criminals rather than nurtured. Jewish tradition teaches that the Divine encompasses both justice and mercy — every child should have the chance to grow and learn, not be discarded and punished.
Join JUFJ’s Racial Equity and Policing Team for a teach-in on restorative justice from Amyra Hasan, campaign organizer at Young People for Progress.
Join other District 18 JUFJers in a Zoom meeting with our state legislators to discuss our agenda for the 2024 Maryland General Assembly Session. We will have an optional Chanukah candlelighting prior to the meeting.

Jewish sacred texts recognize that having safe, stable housing is key to a healthy society. Join us for our next Montgomery County Housing Team meeting to get updates about our ongoing campaigns, bring in some Chanukah cheer, and write cards to each other and our partners!
Join Adat Shalom for a discussion of Maryland’s ongoing dire record of charging children in the adult criminal system and how the Youth Equity and Safety Act (“YES” Act) would positively impact that situation.
Join JUFJ Montgomery County members at Adat Shalom for an in-person, apple-themed Chanukah celebration for the whole family! Bring your favorite apple dish, and we'll celebrate with songs, games, and community building.
Jewish sacred texts teach us that the world was created with both justice and mercy. Here in Maryland, children who are charged with certain crimes are sentenced as if they were adults. That is neither just nor merciful. Join JUFJ's youth justice working group as we discuss the campaign to pass the Youth Equity and Safety (YES) Act.
Join other District 17 JUFJers in a Zoom meeting with our new state legislator Delegate Spiegel to discuss our agenda for the 2024 Maryland General Assembly Session.

JUFJ is joining our partners from the Silver Spring Justice Coalition at the County Council Building in Rockville to mobilize against Bill 43-23, which would codify the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). This harmful bill would open the door for a more pervasive police response to crises that involve mental health, behavioral health, and substance use disorder.
Join JUFJ and our partners at the Board of Education for the first of two public hearings about Montogmery County Public Schools' Operating Budget, where community members will testify in support of their hopes for the school budget. We and our partners at Racial Justice NOW! and Young People for Progress are asking for fully funded restorative justice in MCPS.
If you are submitting written testimony this legislative session, join us for this writing power hour on Zoom. Testimony writers of all experience levels are all welcome!
